Privacy Policy

Daily with Daisy is an Instagram automation account that replies with a daily technology-news digest when you send it a direct message. This policy explains what happens to your data when you interact with it.

What we receive

When you DM @dail.ywithdaisy on Instagram, Meta's Instagram Messaging API delivers to our server:

• Your Instagram-Scoped ID (IGSID) — a unique identifier for you that is scoped to this app only. It is not your public Instagram handle and cannot be used to identify you outside this app.
• The text content of your message.
• A timestamp.

What we do with it

We check whether your message contains a trigger phrase (for example, "good morning"). If it does, we fetch the day's top technology-news headlines from Hacker News and send them back to you as an Instagram direct message. If it does not, we reply with a help hint. That is the entire scope of processing.

What we store

• We cache a single, shared daily news digest in Cloudflare Workers KV for up to 36 hours so the same headlines are not re-fetched for every reader. This cache contains no user data.
• We do not store your IGSID, your messages, your Instagram handle, or any metadata about your account.
• We do not maintain a subscriber list. Every DM is handled statelessly.

Third parties

• Meta Platforms, Inc. — delivers your message to us and our reply to you via the Instagram Messaging API. Governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts the server code and the news-digest cache. Governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Y Combinator (Hacker News) — we fetch public news headlines from news.ycombinator.com. No user data is sent.

Data retention

Your messages are processed in memory and discarded. Nothing user-specific is written to disk or any database by us. Meta retains messages in its own systems under its own policy; we have no control over Meta's retention.

Your rights

To stop using the bot, simply stop messaging it — there is no subscription to cancel. To report a privacy concern, request deletion of anything you believe we might hold, or exercise any other right you have under applicable law (including GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA), contact us at the address below.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear at this URL. Check the effective date at the top.
